Antara is a medium sized planet with a very thin (almost vacuum) atmosphere and about 70% water (totally locked up as polar ice caps). Its population is in the hundreds of millions who live on the surface of the planet and are governed by an impersonal bureaucracy. It has an extreme law level that leads to unrestricted invasion of privacy. It has a high stellar tech-level which it uses to great effect to counter the harsh environment and rule its citizens. Your parents work for the only University on the planet which is under the control of the Ministry for Education and Cultural Enlightenment. You found the planet’s law level completely stifling and your parent’s existence completely complacent. You therefore left as soon as you could, much to your parent’s grief as you are an only child. You joined the Scouts at the neighbouring system, Uramid (1910 Antra/Deneb), where you were placed in the Communications Office and started an unexciting career running Xboats along the Main. The most exciting part of your career was when you were in the Survey Office. You were part of an External Mapping Branch expedition to retrieve the body of an Imperial Ambassador, Ambassador Virislandar Hilltiniig, from the Vargr-held planet of Dzoungdzi (1802 Antra/Deneb).
